Jaime 9th on opening day of Barcelona testing

Circuit: Circuit de Catalunya – 4.655 kms; Chassis: STR5-02; Best time: 1:24.869, 111 laps

Jaime was today in action at the Circuit de Catalunya, kicking off the final four days of testing, before the start of the season.

Jaime set 111 laps – the most of any of the drivers, clocking a 1:24.869, to slot into 9th in the standings. He said:

“It was encouraging to have another trouble free day, completing a high mileage. We learned a lot doing long runs on the Soft compound tyre and I’m looking forward to tackling a different programme tomorrow.”

The team worked on set-up work on the STR5 to start with, and in the afternoon, the team evaluated a new braking system. Throughout the day, the car ran on just one of the three Bridgestone compounds available at Barcelona.

Jaime will be in the STR5 tomorrow, in what will be his final drive in a Formula 1 car before Free Practice for the Bahrain Grand Prix!
